Digital Arts & Design II

Digital Arts & Design II is a course that builds on the basic principles and design process learned in the introductory Digital Arts & Design I course. Upon completion of this course, proficient students will be able to perform advanced software operations to create photographs and illustrations of increasing complexity. Students will employ design principles and use industry software to create layouts for a variety of applications. Standards in this course also include an overview of art and design industries, career exploration, and business management. In addition, students will continue compiling artifacts for inclusion in a digital portfolio, which they will carry with them throughout the full sequence of courses in this program of study.

Career Prep for
Design Professions

Digital Arts and Design II students dive in to learn how professionals manage their workload, price their services, and complete their tasks. Students learn to measure in points and picas to enhance their typography and design skills. Students review their classmates work and utilize critique and refinement strategies.

EPSO
Opportunities

Students can begin getting EPSOs beginning in the 9th grade if they take Digital Arts & Design as a focus area. Students will take a certification exam at the end of the year.  They may also participate in dual enrollment through TCAT-Dickson.

Early postsecondary opportunities (EPSOs) include a course and/or exam that give students a chance to obtain postsecondary credit while still in high school. Courses (whether stand-alone or in conjunction with an exam for postsecondary credit) must be aligned to postsecondary standards. Learn more  at tn.gov >
