Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment is offered to all Digital Arts and Design students. Beginning in the 9th grade, you can receive college credits for the Digital Graphic Design program at Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

Dual Enrollment is when a high school student receives credit at two institutions at the same time. At the high school level, the class is applied toward their high school diploma while at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology they are receiving hours toward their programs certificate or diploma.

To be eligible, the student must:

  1. Be classified as a high school junior or senior if enrolling in Dual Enrollment courses at a two-year or four-year postsecondary institution; or be classified as a high school freshman or higher if enrolling in a Dual Enrollment program at a TCAT;
  2. Complete and submit the Dual Enrollment Grant application on-line by the deadline date as indicated below;
  3. Meet admissions criteria for dual enrollment for the postsecondary institution to which the student will enroll as a dual enrolled student;
  4. Maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average for all postsecondary courses attempted under the Dual Enrollment Grant.

How dual enrollment works for Digital Arts and Design:

Digital Arts & Design classes at DCHS have both dual enrolled and non-dual enrolled students. The students who have completed the TCAT application and the TSAC Grant application will receive college credits for the work they do in class. The TN state standards for Digital Arts & Design at DCHS align with the Digital Graphic Design program at TCAT. When a student graduates from DCHS, they can use those credits to accelerate their training at TCAT.
